Burgas floodplain meadows takes 183 ha big area. There is possibility that the title has arrised from Burgas manor. Till nowadays this manor has not preserved.

Near from Burgas meadows there was Ērģemes battle, in which russian troops in 1560 defeated the Livonian unite force. After this battle was Vīlandes occupancy and many years later ceased to exist Livonia country.

In 2004 there have been created Nature Reserve.
